Shoulder width is not just about bone structure — back tissue profile, age, and slope all affect where a strap can realistically sit and stay. Each shape below calls for a different strap placement and style approach.
Strap Placement
Wide Shoulders
Shoulders broader than the hips, creating an inverted triangle silhouette. Fuller back tissue may also narrow the functional strap corridor even when skeletal width is broad.
Key Fit NeedStraps set further apart. Straps placed too close to center will migrate toward the neck, dig into back tissue, and feel confining.

Strap Placement & Tension
Narrow & Sloped Shoulders
Shoulders narrower than the hips, or shoulders with a downward slope regardless of width. Slope is independent of width — a narrow-shouldered woman can also have significant slope.
Key Fit NeedStraps set closer together. Slope requires a shorter strap setting than body shape alone suggests — wider-set straps will slide off the reduced shoulder surface.
