UK to Elila Bra Size Conversion Chart

If you wear a UK-sized bra brand, your Elila size is not the same letters and numbers — and the traditional “sister size” conversion chart will steer you wrong. Elila uses classical American sizing with cup grading developed for plus-size bodies, so converting takes two steps: convert the band, then convert the cup. Use the charts below, or try our interactive UK Size Converter for an instant recommendation.

Step 1: Convert Your Band Size

UK brands and Elila measure band size differently. Your Elila band is your UK band plus 2. A UK 38 band converts to an Elila 40. This is normal — the garments fit the same body; the labels differ.

Step 2: Convert Your Cup Size

Each conversion gives a Primary size (your recommended starting point) and a Secondary size (an alternative to compare in the fitting room). Keep the Elila band from Step 1 for both.

Why Two Sizes?

Elila's cup grading accounts for how breast tissue behaves on fuller frames, not just volume. When we measured UK garments against Elila garments, Elila grades on average 1.55 times the UK grade per cup size — which is why the traditional “go up a band, go down two cups” formula fails for plus-size conversion. The Secondary size lets you feel the difference in cup depth, band support, and engineering, so you find the fit that truly works for your body.

Fitting room tip: Try the Primary size first, then compare with the Secondary. Look for proper band placement, center gore contact, no gaping or spillage, and comfortable strap tension. The “right” size is the one that supports, shapes, and is comfortable. Try on a top for the reveal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a UK 38GG in US plus-size bra sizing?
A UK 38GG converts to an Elila 40H (primary) or 40G (secondary). The band goes up by 2 because UK and US brands measure bands differently, and the cup converts according to Elila's plus-size grading.

Why is my Elila band size larger than my UK band size?
UK and US brands label band sizes differently for the same body measurement. A UK 38 and an Elila 40 fit the same ribcage. Nothing about your body has changed — only the label.

Does the traditional sister-size conversion chart work for plus sizes?
No. Traditional charts assume every cup size equals exactly one inch of difference. Elila's grading runs about 1.55 times the UK grade per cup size to account for tissue distribution on fuller frames, so traditional charts land you one to two cup sizes off.

What if my UK cup size isn't on the chart?
The chart covers UK cups F through MM, which span Elila's range. If you wear a UK cup below F, contact us or ask your Elila fitter — and if you're between sizes, the interactive converter will give you both options to try.

Which UK brands does this conversion apply to?
This chart converts standard UK bra sizing (the system used by brands such as Elomi, Panache, Goddess UK, and Freya) to Elila's classical American sizing, based on direct garment-to-garment measurement.
